DIMPLE (CASH) RODGERS, 80

Dimple Rodgers, 80, of Route 1, Goreville, died at 1:05 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 1990, at Marion Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Rodgers was a former Illinois teacher of the year. She had been an elementary teacher for 40 years, teaching for 30 years in Kankakee and 10 years in the Goreville school system. She retired from teaching in 1971.
She was born March 9, 1909, near Goreville, the daughter of the late Sam and Minnie Kelley Cash. She was married to Thomas Rodgers on Dec. 31, 1929, in Marion.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, F. Leon Rodgers of Mahomet, Ill.; four sisters, Myrtle Harper of Johnston City, Mary Eva Askew, Anna Mae Dodds and Bertha Lee Bloodworth, all of Marion, and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Rodgers was a member of the Goreville United Methodist Church and the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association.
Funeral services were to be held at 1:30 p.m. today, Jan. 11, 1990, at the Goreville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Cana Cemetary.
The family said memorials may be made to the Goreville United Methodist Church.
The funeral arrangements were handled by the Whitnel Funeral Chapel in Goreville.
