Ivan Dean Thompson, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019. He was born October 28, 1923 to Floyd and Edith Thompson in Pingree, Idaho. Ivan graduated Ogden High School. He married Rose Elaine Serr in Ogden, Utah, on March 13, 1946.

Ivan retired in 1972 from Quality Assurance for the Minuteman Missile Program at Hill Air Force Base, where he met his wife of 65 years. Prior to this, he served in the Air Force and Civil Air Patrol from 1946-47.

He enjoyed camping, boating, deer hunting, and trout fishing with his family. He had a passion for woodworking, often gifting his creations to his grandkids. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for more than two decades, taking great pride in being a Scoutmaster. He loved sharing stories about the childhood adventures he had on the farm with his brothers, especially with Mel.

Although he didn’t achieve his goal of living to be 104, he won the loving and longstanding bet with his brother Mel, on who would be the last man standing.

Ivan is survived by his son Gerald (MaryAnn) Thompson, and daughters Connie Phillips and Vicki Meek; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine.

A Graveside Service will be held at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 - 36th Street, Ogden; on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm.
