Samuel Andrews was born in Morgan county, Ohio, Dec 20, 1827. He lived there on a farm until 1856, when he moved to the adjoining county of Washington. In 1848 he married Miss Harriet W. Lyon and lived happily with her until her dearth in 1865. Five sons and a daughter were born of this marriage. The daughter, who married George Possier, died in the winter of '94-'95. The sons are all living in Decatur county. In 1868 Mr. Andrews married Miss Martha Shipton, who survives him. No children were born of this marriage.
Mr. Andrews served as a soldier in the civil war. In 1876 he moved to Grant township in Decatur county, and took up a homestead. He lived on this farm until the time of his death. About the 8th of this month Mr. Andrews was taken sick, and rapidly grew worse until, on the 14th it was thought necessary to take him to a hospital at Omaha, where he died on the 20th inst.
Mr. Andrews was one of the early settlers in Decatur county, and leaves a large number of friends, who had learned to love him. He was a good man, generous, honorable and tender-hearted, a true Christian Gentleman. All of us who knew him mourn his demise.
