He was an Army veteran and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1955. He belonged to Farmland Masonic Lodge #308 F.& A.M. and a Shriner, as well as Moose Lodge # 2112 Inverness Florida. He enjoyed boating, fishing, bowling, and golfing. He was a master carpenter of Local 1033 and worked in the building trades until retirement. He was a Lake Patrol officer in Crossville and a member of the ACC board. His hobbies were wood crafting and included the creation of various hand crafted clocks, game boards, and figurines. He helped mentor his family and friends in his craft.
