James “Peanut” Campbell, age 74, of Hooks, Texas, died Sunday, April 14, 2019, in a local hospital.
Mr. Campbell was born November 16, 1944, in Texarkana, Texas. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, who served in Vietnam. He was co-owner of Bar C Farms, a cattle rancher and also attended Lakeside Baptist Church. Peanut was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed racing cars and he loved to sing. Most of all, he was crazy about his grandkids, and gave each one of them their own special nickname.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Campbell of Hooks; three sons and daughters-in-law, Scooter and Della Ann Campbell, Shane and Jennifer Campbell and Larry and Jenifer McDonald, all of Hooks; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Shirley Campbell of New Boston, Texas; ten grandchildren, Kelsie "Cotton Top" Good and husband, John, Chesney "Ches-Bo" Campbell, Colton Phipps, Daniel Phipps, Gage "Buddy Ruff" Campbell, Maddie "Maddie Moo Moo" Campbell, Lacey "Sweet Darling Angel" Green and husband, Hunter, Tracy "Bubba" McDonald, Braden "Mr. Bray-don" McDonald and Ashlyn "CAB" McDonald; and three great-grandchildren, Whitlee "Widdle Diddle" Good, Addy "Addy Patty" Phipps and Karsyn "Karsyn Jane" Phipps.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Chapelwood Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Butler and Keith Schutte officiating. Burial will follow in Everett Cemetery, Hooks.
