Robert Lee Blackshear was the son of Emma Elizabeth "Betty" Curtis and Jacob "Thomas" Blackshear. He married Minnie Gertrude on 25 May 1922 in Fannin County, Texas; and from this union were born five children:

Texas PVT Provost Guard Co. WWI
Robert Lee enlisted to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces of WWI, in 1916 at the age of 15. He lied about his age to get into the Army, as the legal age of recruitment was 18. He was a Texas Private in Provost Guard Co. . His military career was short lived, however, due to being kicked by a mule. He sustained a serious injury to his shoulder. He was discharged soon after. He drove a supply wagon and his entire tour of duty was served in Ft. Worth, Texas. Robert Lee Blackshear died April 6, 1956 in Wellington, Texas. Was buried on Row 3, Section 5 in the Fairview Cemetery, Wellington, Texas.
