BENNIE HAYS SR. was the son of Mose Hayes and Mrs. Lucy (Shaw) Hayes.

He was the husband of Mrs. Mary Ann (Simpson) Hays whom he married on February 25, 1914 in Harrison County, Texas.

To their union, at least 7 children were born. Their known children were ---

Bennie Sr. preceded his wife in death.

Burial arrangements were managed by Lewis Funeral Home.

Obituary
"Funeral services for Bennie Hays Sr., of Route 6, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday from the West Side Church Of Christ with W.F. Washington officiating. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery, in Hallsville, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home.

Mr. Hays died February 14 in a job-related accident on the Gum Springs Road. A lifetime resident of this area, he was educated in the Harrison County public schools. He was a retired employee of the Atlas Powder Company, and a member of the West Side Church Of Christ.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Hays, of Marshall; three sons, Henry Hays, of Longview, and Bennie Hays Jr. and Rev. Curtis Hays, both of Marshall; four daughters, Mrs. Claudia McDaniel and Mrs. Lucy Bradfield, both of Marshall, Mrs. Luella Straughter, of Longview, and Mrs. Julia Nesbitt, of Oakland, California; four sisters, Mrs. Josephine V. Neal, Mrs. Corrie McPhail, Mrs. Lottie Bell Hays and Mrs. Heggar Dunn; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews."
