Harold Dean, 57, a night watchman for the Sea side company, was found on the boardwalk shortly after 1 a.m. today by his relief. Dean was taken by Perngo am bulance to county hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Death apparently was due to a heart attack. The deceased had complained of chest pains last night. A veteran of both World Wars, Dean had been a Santa Cruz resident for more than 20 years and made his home at 328 Harrison avenue. He had been a building and electrical inspector for the city for 13 years.
Rev. Gordon J. Milldrum will conduct funeral services at Wessendorf mortuary at 2 p.m. Thursday. Friends are invited to attend.
Dean, a native of Kansas and a member of Santa Cruz Post 64, American Legion, is survived by his wife, Lola M. Dean, and two children, Mrs. Yvonne Gillow of San Diego and Harry Nelson Dean Jr. of Reno. Other survivors include 10 brothers and sisters: Ray Dean of Three Rivers, Mich.; Fred Dean of Chicago; Russell and Ernest Dean of Portland, Ore.; Claude Dean of Charlesburg, Ind.; George Dean and Mrs. Hazel Coulter of Hiawatha, Kans.; Mrs. Doris Baumlin of Hamlin, Kans.; Mrs. Bernice Ackers of Wetmore, Kans., and Mrs. Edna Cunningham of Robinson, Kans.
Interment will be in the Oakwood cemetery.
