MADISON – Steve Walter Chaney, 73, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a battle with Leukemia.

The funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Wilson Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Steve was born May 16, 1944, in Rockingham County, to the late Albert and Ruby Chaney. He worked as a Sandy Ridge Green Box Attendant and retired from Parkdale Mills. Mr. Chaney was a good Christian man who loved the Lord and would spread the gospel every chance he got.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Stevie and Randy Chaney; sisters, Martha Manuel, Rilla Webb, Carolyn Sizemore and Vera Tuggle and brother, Franklin Chaney.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy Chaney of the home; children, Wendy Duggins (Keith), Ricky Chaney (Tina), Sandy Bullins (Timmy) and JoAnn Wood (Monte); grandchildren, Brittney Duggins, Megan Bullins, Holly Wood and Aaron Bullins; brothers, Carson Chaney (Deloris) and Gene Chaney (Penny); sisters, Betty Dunlap (Larry), Christine Via (Larry) and Barbara Dunlap (Ricky).

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm, Wednesday, at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times at the residence.
