Born in Holliston, Mass son of Drury and Deborah (Leland); m. 1st May 25 1800 Lucretia (Rockwood); m. 2nd Sarah, dau of Francis Worcester. Graduated Brown University in 1797; studied theology with Dr Emmons of Franklin, Mass and was ordained pastor of the Cong'l Church, Plymouth Jan 08 1800 where he remained until Mar 18 1818. Engaged in Home Mission work two years.

Came to Littleton, NH and was installed as the first pastor of the Littleton, NH Congregational Church May 03 1820, retiring Mar 16 1836.
