Pauline Uthe, age 91 of rural Boone, Iowa died at her home on March 13, 2019.

A Funeral Mass will be on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM., at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone, with Rev. Brian Hughes officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Ogden, Iowa.

Pauline Frances (Lawler) Uthe, was born April 7, 1927 in rural Ogden at the home of her parents, Frank and Marie (Hager) Lawler. She attended Beaver Center Country School Through 8th grade and graduated from Ogden High School in 1944.

In earlier years, Pauline worked as a secretary in the Superintendent’s Office at Ogden High School as a bookkeeper and teller for City State Bank in Ogden. She was employed as Assistant Bookkeeper at the Boone News Republican in Boone from 1967 to 1998.

She was united in marriage to Robert Uthe on March 29, 1948 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden. The couple farmed near Ogden for 20 years and in rural Boone until retirement. Pauline was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart and Sacred Heart Altar Society. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, making gifts, and enjoyed music. Pauline served as Church organist both in Ogden and Boone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joseph and James Lawler; sisters, Sister Alice Marie, and Martha Wang; a great grandson, Arthur Richard Peter and several nieces and nephews.

Pauline is survived by her husband, Bob of Boone; three sons, David of Boone, Richard of Ames and Bruce and wife, Michelle, of Ogden; two daughters, Joann Uthe of Boone and Diana McLaren, husband, Rob, of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Michelle Duncan, husband, John of Boone, Nicole Bollenbaugh, friend, Brad Lyons of Ogden, Joe Uthe, wife, Kaylee of Ogden, Molly Moench, husband, Justin of Omaha, Hunter Wirth of Ogden, Haillie Wirth of Ogden, Danielle Hoover, husband, Joe of Albia and Amy Peter, husband Richard of Omaha, Nebraska; thirteen great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernardine Gorman of Ogden, Jeanne Lawler of Carroll, Kate Uthe of Ames, Mary Wirth of Ames, Joe Voss of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
