Edith I. Walker was born to William Alexander Walker and Jeanne Arbuckle Walker in Otter Tail County, MN where her parents were homesteading. She was the 12th of 13 children. In the early 1900's her parents moved to Bemidji, MN. In 1912 she came west to Seattle, WA where her older sister, Caroline had moved with her husband Edward I. Hurley. While she lived with the Hurleys she helped Caroline care for her children. Later she worked as a stenographer in a downtown Seattle office building where her future husband also worked. She married William Robert Leonard in Renton, WA on Mar. 27, 1913. They had two children, Rowene Olive, b. 1915 in Seattle and William Walker, b. 1918 in Auburn, WA. For many years she was a Christian Science practitioner in Auburn. She died in a CS facility in Victoria B.C. in 1958.
