Juanita attended many schools throughout the world as an U.S. Air Force Brat. She graduated from Calistoga High School in June 1957. She attended Pace University in New York City and Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co., Calif. She achieved High Honors at both institutions.

Juanita had a busy career working for many interesting companies, organizations and governmental agencies as a professional secretary, administrative assistant and office manager. She also worked as a legal secretary for top level law firms in New York City as well as ending her career as a legal word processor.

She was a past president of the New York City Chapter of Professional Secretaries International and achieved the Certified Professional Secretary rating in 1980 after having passed a 2-day, 6-part examination which included accounting, economics, business law, business psychology & other topics. She was instrumental in restructuring the New York City Chapter, PSI which is still operational.

In her capacity as New York City Chapter President, she was quoted in The New York Times and other publications. She was also featured on the cover and in two articles published in a Swedish secretarial magazine. She served as Chapter Delegate at the 1982 & 1983 PSI International Conventions. She also participated in a Secretary Speakout held in Boston, Mass.

Juanita was a seasoned traveler having lived in Hawaii when it was a U.S. Territory and in Tokyo, Japan while General Douglas MacArthur was in command after World War II. She traveled to England, Ireland, Scotland, Europe, the Middle East (Egypt, Israel & Jordan), Mexico, Canada & Puerto Rico.

She celebrated the Millennium with a dear Australian friend Lorraine Potts in Melbourne while traveling in Australia and New Zealand. She also traveled considerably throughout the United States. Her trips were never dull and always filled with adventures.

Juanita was an ardent genealogist, researching many branches of her family tree. She was a former member of the National Genealogy Society, the Lucky Mee Family Assn and a current member of the Oregon-California Trails Assn (OCTA). At various times, depending upon her research area, she often joined local genealogy societies.

Her interests also included participating in the annual Whale Watch at Bodega Head, Sonoma Co., Calif. through her membership in the Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods and being a California State Parks Volunteer.

She enjoyed movies, the theatre, photography, art and at one time, folk dancing.

Juanita died from Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma.

Juanita was predeceased by her parents and daughter. There was no service or obit.
