Obituary for Alex Dale Duffield
Alex Duffield, of Chariton, passed away February 14, 2019 at the age of 58. A Graveside Service with military honors will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter.
Alex Dale Duffield was born March 18, 1960 to Dale and Edna Cox Duffield in Bethany, Missouri. Alex grew up in Lineville on the Missouri, Iowa border and attended Lineville High School. In 1980, Alex was blessed with one son, Alex Dale Duffield Jr.
Alex made a living as a farmer until enlisting in the United States Navy at the age of twenty-two. He entered into active duty on May 17, 1982 and was honorably discharged on November 13, 1986.
After his service, Alex returned to Iowa and took a job with the United States Postal Service in Des Moines. When he wasn't working, Alex enjoyed spending his time outdoors, especially around the water. He loved fishing, was a good water skier, liked to play horseshoes, and took his dogs with him everywhere.
Alex was a proud father and grandfather. He also had a close relationship with both his mother and grandmother.
Alex is survived by his son, Alex Duffield Jr.; grandsons: Trevor Duffield, Connor Duffield, and Logan Duffield; sister, Andrea (Ron) Milbourn; and brothers, Fred (Janet) Duffield and Arnold Duffield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Edna Duffield.
