Clarence “Richard” Burriss, 71, Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away the morning of February 26, 2019 at Centerpoint Medical Center surrounded by family. Services will be held on Saturday, March 9th at Grace Baptist Church, 600 SW Maple Lane, Oak Grove, MO 64075, with visitation at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Richard's life at 5:00 p.m. at Side Pockets, 1237 MO 7 Highway, Blue Springs, MO 64014. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church or to https://www.gofundme.com/children-of-richard-burriss to help with funeral expenses.
Richard was born November 10, 1947 in Cameron, MO to Stanton S. and Billie L. (Burke) Burriss. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in Missouri in 1965. After high school, Richard joined the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1968. He was a dedicated employee of Bayer Crop Science for 35 years until his retirement. Richard was a strong supporter of all things sports, especially when it came to his 2 children and grandchildren. In this free time, he enjoyed participating in activities such as softball, darts, and pool, alongside his many friends and family.
He is survived by his daughter, and her husband; son and his wife, three granddaughters, one brother, two sisters and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanton S. and Billie L. Burriss, and one sister Marie.
The family would like to express gratitude for all the thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
