Funeral services were held Saturday April 23, 1949 for Mrs. Arabelle Catherine Vaughn, who died April 22, 1949, at the age of 85. Rev. Nobel Cottrell conducted the services held in the Aetna Grove Church and burial was in the Aetna Grove Cemetery.
A native of Green County, Mrs. Vaughn was born June 30, 1863. She was married to John Robert Vaughn who preceded her in death several years ago. To this union was born six children. One son, George Leslie Vaughn preceded her in death.
She professed faith in Christ early in life and later united with the Aetna Grove Baptist Church where she remained a member until death.
Surviving are two sons and three daughters: James Vaughn of Hudgins; Robert Vaughn of Summersville; Alice Marcum of Lobb; Lura Reynolds of Donansburg; and Mary Parker of Pikeview. Also surviving are two brothers, three sisters, twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Sam Vaughn, Irvin Parker, Deward Reynolds, Woodruff Vaughn, Moss Marcum and Bernis Parker.
