Elmer Wright Barlow, age 92, passed away at home October 26, 2000.
Born July 9, 1908 in Syracuse, Utah, a son of Willard E. and Jessie Wright Barlow. Married Margaret Helen Burningham July 14, 1933 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died two months ago.
He was owner/operator of his own wholesale produce business. Earlier had worked for 10 years as a machinist at Remington Arms, Hill Field and Navy Base in Clearfield.
He was Bountiful City Councilman and Bountiful Mayor, also member of the board of directors of the South Davis Sewer District for 10 years and director and vice president of the Chamber of Commerce. Years since retirement were spent in civic work, and enjoying his family. Special memories are centered around his own birthday when his posterity gathered for Christmas in July parties. He and Margaret loved to travel around Utah with their golf clubs to enjoy the beautiful golf courses. Loved his flower garden, always made it beautiful for the neighbors and passers-by to enjoy. He received four beautification awards.
As a life member of the Lions Club, he was awarded the International Melvin Jones
Fellow for Dedicated Humanitarian Service.
Survivors include: one daughter and three sons; DeAnn (Veldon) Wilde; Bob (Joan); Jon Kay (Becky); Jim (Dianne); all of Bountiful; a brother Wilford (Gladys); 15 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by one brother, two sisters.
Funeral services will be Sat. Oct. 28, at Noon at the Bountiful Tabernacle, Main and Center Street where friends may call from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Interment in Bountiful City Cemetery under the direction of Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary.
