LeRoy Griffin Lusk was born on 9 February 1889 in Oconee County, South Carolina, the third of 10 children of Rufus M. Lusk (1860-1940) and Sallie Holden Lusk (1861-1927). He grew up in Pickens Co., SC. He was married to Lavinia "Vena" Queen (1894-1980) on 26 June 1916 in Greenville, SC. They had three children: Roy William Lusk (1917-1961), Mildred Mary Lusk [Parris] (1921-2003), and Rev. Richard Lee Lusk (1926-2018). He was a barber by trade. Griffin died on 8 July 1954 in Greenville, SC at the age of 65.
