Nelle (Leonard) Caldwell, of Spartanburg, SC, died suddenly at her home and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 16, 2007.

She was the widow of William Ervin Caldwell and a Godly lady who was deeply loved by family, friends, and everyone who knew her.

Daughter of the late Joseph Leonard and Dorothy (Snow) Leonard, she was born in Reidville, SC. She graduated from Asheville Teachers College and taught elementary school in Forest City, NC, before starting her successful career of devoted wife and mother. She blessed many by her community and church involvement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and the Maranatha Sunday School Class and taught First Grade Sunday School for many, many years. She faithfully delivered Mobile Meals for over 30 years, participated in Ladies First Thursday at her church, diligently participated in the Healthy Heart rehab program for more than 20 years, and helped with the E. P. Todd Good News Club for the past three years.

She leaves behind to cherish fond memories her devoted family: daughter, Judy Caldwell Wilson; son, Robert Ervin Caldwell, Sr. and wife Sylvia; sisters, Bobbie Leonard Mathis and Shirley Leonard Keels; five grandchildren, Bob Caldwell and wife Sarah, Kathy Caldwell Johnson and husband Mark, Kelly Wilson Gibson and husband Robert, Dodd Caldwell and Ben Caldwell; and ten great-grandchildren, Brittany, Courtney and Trey Gibson, Robert, Carter, Ella and Isabelle Caldwell, Wynn, Kallie and Miles Johnson.

The family received friends 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2007, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Robert C. Morgan. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Bob Caldwell, Jr., Dodd Caldwell, Ben Caldwell, Robert Gibson, Mark Johnson, David Wingo, Dale Wingo, and Bill Caldwell.
