Graphic designer. With his partner Aubrey Powell, he formed the design agency Hipgnosis. They specialised in album covers and designed a large number for various famous rock groups such as Pink Floyd, 10cc, Nazareth, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, the Nice, the Strawbs, Syd Barrett, the Pretty Things, Led Zeppelin, T Rex, Wishbone Ash, Bad Company and Al Stewart. His most famous covers include Dark Side of the Moon, the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Houses of the Holy, Electric Warrior, Argus, Straight Shooter, Wish You Were Here and Parachute.Storm Thorgerson, the British graphic designer behind some of the most memorable album covers of all time, including Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, has died aged 69.

The designer, who also created artwork for bands and musicians including Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel and Muse over his 40 year career, died peacefully after having been ill for some time with cancer.

Thorgerson began his career with UK design group Hipgnosis, founded in the late 1960s, and his distinctive style made him one of the industry's most recognisable artists.
