Michael Wandrick, 93, of 1538 Parksite
Dr., Cape Girardeau passed away August 13,
2019 at the Lutheran Home, Cape Girardeau,
Missouri.
He was born September 30, 1925, to Michael
and Mary (Vidlicka) Wandrick of Jenkins
Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
After graduating from Stafford County High
School, Virginia in May of 1943, on
September 17 he enlisted in the United
States Navy. He served aboard the
USS Princeton light aircraft carrier
in the Philippines as a pilot, flying a
Grumman TBM Torpedo Bomber.
After the war he went to work for the
Civil Aeronautics Administration, (in 1987
it was renamed the Federal Aviation
Administration) working for them for over
38 years. He starting out as a Tower
Controller in Advance, Missouri, ending up
as a Control Tower Manager at the office
headquarters in Los Angeles. While working
in Advance, he met and married Millicent
Virginia Pittman in 1949. Retiring in 1980
the family moved to Cape Girardeau.
He is survived by brother, Charles; sister,
Kay; a son, Michael James Wandrick; a grandson,
Jeffery Lloyd; a granddaughter, Stacy Lee
(Lloyd) Wathem; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, his parents, Michael
and Mary; his wife, Millie; a daughter,
Jacqueline; brothers, Jack (John), George,
Nicholas and Daniel; and sisters, Mary, Helen,
Anna and Julia.
Services will be private.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
Interment Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
