ELIZABETH H. PETERSON, 1786-1867

Elizabeth H. Peterson, was born Abt, 1786 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee and died Tuesday, June 11, 1867 in Plymouth, St. Mary Township, Hancock County, Illinois. She married Samuel Haggard on March 26, 1806 in Williamson County, Tennessee. Her husband Samuel had inherited land from his father John Haggard's estate and tax records of Williamson County, Tennessee reflect that he lived in that area from 1803 until the year 1811, at which time I presume they sold their land in Williamson County and moved to Hickman County, Tennessee, where I assume they lived until sometime around 1820, when they removed to Clarksville in Montgomery County, Tennessee. In the year 1830 Samuel and Elizabeth Haggard moved with his son-in-law Edward Wade, the husband of his daughter Mary, to the Augusta Prairie region in Schuyler County, Illinois. Elizabeth's youngest child, Samantha Jane was born in 1831 in either Schuyler or Hancock County, Illinois when Elizabeth was age 41.

Samuel and Elizabeth Haggard were enumerated on the 1855 Special Census for the State of Illinois as living in St. Mary's Township, Hancock County, Illinois, he as 70 to 80 years of age and she, as 60 to 70 years of age. they both died 7 years later, Samuel on June 4, of 1867 and Elizabeth followed him 7 days later on June 11, of 1867. They are both buried in the Rosemont Cemetery located at Plymouth, in Hancock County, Illinois. They had been married a total of 61 years and raised 10 children.
