MARY HAGGARD, 1808 - 1882

Mary Haggard, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth H. Peterson Haggard was born on Tuesday, September 8, 1808 near Clarksville, in Montgomery County, Tennessee and died at 8: 45 AM on the morning of May 23, 1882 at Plymouth, St. Mary's Township, Hancock County, Illinois, aged 73 years, 8 months and 23 days (her grave marker says 73 yrs 8 mos 7 dys) It is mentioned in her death record, (Hancock County, Illinois was not required to provide Death Certificates until 1919, up until that time county deaths were entered into a Death Register at the County Seat at Carthage) that she was from Clarksville, Tennessee, was a native, and had been a resident of Hancock County, Illinois for 59 years. She was married to Edward Wade on June 24, 1823 at Clarksville, in Montgomery County, Tennessee. She moved with her husband and family to Schuyler County, Illinois in the Spring of 1830, stopping on the Augusta Prairie in Morgan County for one year before moving on to Mr. Wade's land claim near Eden, in the Birmingham, Township area of Hancock County, Illinois.
