ANDREW BUDZ, 61,
Dies at Home
HOUSATONIC - Andrew Budz, 61, well known groceryman, died yesterday afternoon at his Meadow Street home after a short illness. He had been suffering from a heart ailment. Mr. Budz was born in Poland, son of Joseph and Mary Nowobiliski Budz and came here about 50 years ago. Mr. Budz conducted a meat market for about 15 years and later was employed as a meat cutter by the First National Stores and the Grand Union. For the past three years he was employed at Betros' market in Great Barrington.
Mr. Budz was an official of the Polish Falcon Society and the Polish-American Citizens Club. His son, Edward, was the first member of the Air Corps from this village to lose his life in World War II.
Mr. Budz is survived by his widow, the former Mary Korkos, three sons, Maj. Andrew Budz, Jr., military attache at the U.S. embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark, John Budz of North Adams, and Chester Budz, a student of dentistry at Loyola University in New Orleans, La; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Martin of New York, Mrs. Clarence Mulhall of New Rochelle, N.Y.; a sister, Mrs. Andrew Bobola of Housatonic, and three grandchildren.
The body rests at the home. The funeral will be held Friday morning at 9 at All Saints' Church with burial in St. Bridget's Cemetery. The Birches Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
