Lawrence A. Swartley, 90, of Souderton, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in the Souderton Mennonite Homes in Franconia Twp.

He and his beloved wife, Ruth (Moyer) Swartley, would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in September.

Born in Buckingham Twp., he was a son of the late Elias and Mary Ann (Alderfer) Swartley.

He was a self-employed dairy and crop farmer for many years. He began farming in Doylestown, and in 1981 moved to Wysox in Bradford County, PA.

Mr. Swartley was a member of North Rome Wesylan Church in Rome, PA, but later attended Blooming Glen Mennonite Church. In his free time, he enjoyed doing puzzles, playing games with his family, visiting with friends, and telling stories of farming and his growing up years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon Landes and her husband Ronald of Silverdale, three sons: Donald Swartley and his wife Sandy of Wysox, Thomas Swartley and his wife Miriam, of Canadensis, Michael Swartley and his wife Jill of Friendsville, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law: Russell Gehman of Souderton, and Gordon Yoder and his wife Grace of Chambersburg. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Naomi Yoder, Grace Detweiler, and Thelma Yoder.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Summit View Auditorium of the Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, PA 18964. Interment is private in the Blooming Glen Mennonite Church Columbarium.
