Mrs. Doss was born to the late Ottie (Vinson) and Raymond Goodwin. She passed away in a local hospital.
Mrs. Doss was a lifetime resident of Wells and was retired from Lufkin State Supported Living Center, following 20 years of employment. She was also a Certified Medication Aide at the Wells LTC nursing home for many years. As a young girl, she worked in a café owned by Lula Oldham. She married Tommie Alvin Doss on January 4, 1947 and lived together until his death on October 4, 1973.
She was a former member of the Church by Christ Jesus pastored by Brother Clayton McClendon and later in life was a member of Living Water Church pastored by Brother Jim Maddox. She loved going to church and gospel songs. She had been living at Wells LTC for several years, where she loved all her caretakers.
Survivors include her daughter, Janie Durham and husband William; grandchildren, Amy Durham Pruitt and husband Matthew, Tommy Durham and fiancée Madison Wardlaw, Doug Durham and wife Mango; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Doss was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Doss; parents, Raymond and Ottie Goodwin; and brothers, John, Young and Louis Goodwin.
