Mom, Muby Ruth, Miss Ruth, Aunt Ruth and Mrs. Sharp as she was known to most of us left peacefully for her reward in heaven Tuesday, Jan. 15.

All who knew her know she was a devout Christian who lived her faith as she spoke her faith every second of every day. One of the comments that I'm seeing over and over is "she was a strong Christian Lady."

After the death of her husband Ruth began a successful career at Sears in Meridian MS starting in the Men's department, advancing to the Installation Manager where she earned several awards and finally to commissioned appliance sales. She learned to play the piano as an adult and played for Wednesday prayer meeting at church many years. To know her also meant you knew she loved football. She spent the last ten years of her life in TX and became a huge Dallas Cowboys fan; but she never became a Texan; she loved Mississippi and all the Mississippi college football teams. After all the games we would high five or discuss who was to blame. She was an avid gardener; we planted it and she worked it always preferring a hoe to a cane for balance. Whatever grew she harvested and ate. She would gather pods of okra one at a time until she had a mess and then fry it up. She loved her children so unconditionally and often said she felt sorry for any child that wasn't loved like we all wer e. In the last few days we've all talked about how that love has taught and helped us all more than we can express.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Paul Sharp; parents, John Thomas and Velma Pilgrim Walters; brothers, James and Bobby; and sisters, Hattie Mae, Willie, Francis, Jemmie and Tommy Sue.

She is survived by her children, Ken (Maxine), Larry (Mayra), Timothy and DeAnne (Brendan); grandchildren, Lori, LaGina (Eric), Derek (LeeEllen), Jason(Joy) Brennan (Shellie), Daniel, Matthew; brother, Jack (Connie); sisters in law Jo and Lucille along with nine beautiful great grandchildren.
