James was the son of William and Marion Allan Stark. He married Jane Learmont, daughter of James and Elisabeth Black Learmont, on 17 September 1872 in Quebec. They had five children: Helen/Ellen (buried in this cemetery), Andrew (also buried in this cemetery), Jesse Allen Stark Goundry, James Jackson, and Mabel Stella Stark Biggar. Jane's parents, James and Elisabeth, are buried in this cemetery. James' parents are also buried here.
