Marcella's biological parents were Samuel Edwin Hacker and Mary Alverta Beckner. Walter Eugene Beckner was her maternal uncle and he, along with his wife Mary Alice Byrum Beckner, raised Marcella from about 2 or 3 years old. She grew up considering them her mother and father. Marcella went by both Beckner and Hacker at different times in her early years. She married Clifford James Saxer on May 9, 1925 in Buffalo, NY.

Annandale, VA. On April 10, 1970, at National Orthopedic & Rehab Hospital, beloved wife of Clifford J. Saxer; mother of Janet S. McLeod, Alan E. Saxer, Marcia S. Petruzzi. Also survived by brothers and sisters, Dr. Raymond C. Hacker, Margaret I. Jensky, Edna B. Robinson, Walter E. Beckner, James Beckner, and seven grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at St. Marks United Methodist Church, Arlington, VA, at 11 am Tuesday, April 14. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to a memorial fund at the National Orthopedic & Rehab Hospital, Arlington, VA.
