James Beverly Atnip

May 5, 1926~ JANUARY 9, 2019


James B. Atnip age 92 of McMinnville, passed away Thursday night at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville. He was born May 5, 1926 to his parents, the late Russell and Cora Ferrell Atnip.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 children, James Russell Atnip and Debra Elaine Atnip; 1 great-grandson, Josh; 2 sisters, Joyce Ratliff and Bessie Waggoner; 1 brother, Gene Atnip.


James was a member of Gath Baptist Church, WWII U.S. Army veteran as field artillery and worked with Citizens Gas Co. and a former railroad worker. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy D. Atnip of McMinnville; 3 daughters, Linda Jo (Steve) Nunley, Glinda Steakley and Brenda T. Atnip all of McMinnville; 13 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Wayne Atnip of Florida; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.



Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Sunday January 13, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Gath Cemetery.


DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
