Joyce (Atnip) Ratliff, 82, formerly of Rushville, passed away on Saturday July 5, 2014, at Heritage House Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Connersville, where she had been a resident for more than two months.
One of four children, she was born April 7, 1932 in Smithville, Tennessee, the daughter of Russell and Cora (Ferrell) Atnip. For a number of years, she was a telephone operator in Tennessee.
She was married to Grady A. Ratliff on August 2, 1952 in Russellville, Georgia. His job with the US Air Force required them to relocate frequently. Mr. Ratliff died on November 7, 1973. For the past twenty years, Joyce had resided in Rushville.
In her leisure, she enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to the music of Loretta Lynn.
Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Hensley and her husband Tommy of Sparta, Tennessee, her daughter-in-law, Linda Ratliff of Connersville, five grandchildren, Marty Hensley and his wife Tamara and Edward Hensley and his wife Farrah, both of Tennessee, Marcia Ratliff of Burlington, Kentucky, Melissa Ratliff and Michelle Creech, both of Connersville, ten great-grandchildren, Meagan Ratliff and Kendall Creech, both of Connersville, Jenna Layne Young and her husband Phillip, Rami Hensley, C. J., Haley and Charlie Dennis, Johnna Gayle, Peyton and Elijah Hensley, two great-great-grandchildren, Natalie and Isaiah Young, and two brothers, James and Wayne Atnip, both of Tennessee.
Besides her husband of twenty-one years, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Grady A. Ratliff Jr., a brother, Gene Atnip, a sister, Bessie Wagnor, and two great grandchildren, Keilin and Carson Hensley.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, 100 E. Church Street, Smithville, TN 37166, with Marty Hensley, Mrs. Ratliff's grandson, officiating.
Burial will be in Boham Cemetery in Smithville, Tennessee.
