Leola Black Baker, 87, of Archdale, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 17, 1931, in Hartford, TN, Leola was the daughter of the late Gus and Flossie Simmons Black. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Rex Baker; three sisters, Geneva Crum, Cynthia Black and Emma Jean Black; and three brothers, Eulen, Woodrow and Bige Black. Leola grew up in Hartford and was a member of Blacks Chapel there. She had been a resident of the Archdale area since 1952, and was retired from Unifi after 30 years of service. She was currently a member of Springfield Baptist Church, in High Point.
Leola is survived by four sons, Eddie Baker and friend, Diana Carrol, of Trinity, Eric Baker, of Archdale, Keith Baker and wife, Teresa, of Archdale, and Ronald Baker, of Walnut Cove; a sister, Lisa Frisbee, of Hartford, TN; six grandchildren, Alex Baker (Stephanie), Karly Baker, Kasey Baker, Elizabeth Baker, Samantha Ore (Ben), and Matthew Baker (Kelley); two great grandchildren, Mia Baker and Jack Portis; and a great granddaughter due soon. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Linda Ramsey and Betty Stanley; and her special friend, Markie.
Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, officiated by Rev. Bobby Loving. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
