Mark's father, Joshua II, was born in Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., VA. He was the son of Joshua Wilson I (1740-abt 1820) and Catherine Hough (1748-1820). Both of Mark's parents were born in Montgomery Co., Virginia and both died in Rockcastle Co., Kentucky.
Mark's mother, Sally, was born in Fincastle, Botetourt Co., VA. She was the daughter of Marcus Lykins (1744-1813) and Margaret Howe (1845-1822). Marcus was born in Frederick Co., Virginia, Margaret in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. Both died in Montgomery Co., VA.
In December of 1818, Marcus married Susannah "Susan" Moore (1799-1886). They were married for 53 years and had 13 known children. In order of their birth their children were James Emanuel Wilson (1819-1862), Joshua "Dawsy" Wilson (1821-1895), Andrew Wilson 1823-1912), John Wilson (1825-1862), Burrell Wilson (1826-1902), Elizabeth Wilson (1828- ?), Sarah "Sary" Wilson (1831-1904), Mary Ann "Polly" Wilson (1834-1912), Benjamin Wilson (1836- ?), Martha Wilson (1840- ?), Mark William Wilson (1840- ?), Susan B. Wilson (1842- ?) and Juda Emily Wilson (1846-1907).
Mark died in 1871 in Pleasant Run, Whitley Co., KY at the age of 75. He is buried in the Pleasant Run Cemetery in Holly Hill, McCreary Co. (then part of Whitley Co.), KY. His wife, Susan, died in 1886 at the age of 87 and she too, is buried in Pleasant Run, next to her husband Mark.
