Sherman R. Safewright, 81, of Greensburg, IN, passed away Dec. 27, 2018.

Sherman was born in Rush County, IN on July 13, 1937, a son of the late Edna (Palmer) and Sherman W Safewright. He married Beverly Gillespie Sept. 12, 1959, and she preceded him in death June 7, 2018.

He was raised in Rush County and had attended Havens Elementary and Graham High School. He served in the Navy during peacetime and honorably discharged. Sherman was retired from the State of Indiana Department of Labor as an IOSHA inspector. He was a polite man who was kind to everyone he met. His joy in life was his beautiful family.

Sherman is survived by a daughter, Edna (Mrs. Jim) Weber, of Greensburg; grandfather to Samantha (Mrs. Charlie) LeGere and Shannon Weber & great-grandfather to Kayden and Sarah LeGere

In addition to his wife Beverly, he was preceded in death by a son, Chris Safewright, eight brothers, Fred, Orvall, Russell, William, Frank, Max, Roy & Earl; four sisters, June Safewright, Francis Norris, Dorothy Becraft & Pearl Casey.

Graveside Services and Military Honors will be 1 PM Wednesday Jan 2, 2019 at Mt.Carmel Cemetery in Decatur County, IN. Memorials are requested to Premier Hospice 11550 N Meridian St. #375, Carmel, IN 46032. Online Register Book at www.ToddFuneralHome.com
