Mrs. Kerley was born September 20, 1932 in Denison, Texas, the daughter of Harvey RC and Edna McClure Thomas. She graduated from Salinas, California High School in 1950. Gladys married George Doyle Kerley on February 11, 1956 in Denison. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Association and retired from Southwestern Bell as a Supervisor in the Engineering Department in 1986.

Gladys lived a strong Christian life of faith and accepted her Lord and Savior in baptism at Calvary Baptist Church in 1944. Her life’s testimony was one of exhibiting love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and compassion. Gladys enjoyed assisting in her church library, traveling with her family, and being “Grammy” to her three grandchildren and son-in-law. She was often chatting with friends and keeping up with the latest fashion trends. Gladys will be remembered for her witty comments and easy-going personality. She never had a bad word to say about anyone and would make friends anywhere she went. All who knew her were blessed by her presence.

She is survived by her son Gregory Doyle Kerley of McKinney; sister Pat Davis of Wilmington, North Carolina; brother Ronny Thomas and wife Lorrie of Denison; and grandchildren Kristin Kerley Hill and husband Caden of Knoxville, Tennessee; Kelsey Kerley and Gregory Daniel Kerley of McKinney, Texas.

Her family would like to thank Debi Davidson and the staff of Stone Brook Assisted Living and Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassion, care, and blessings in taking care of “Mrs. Gladys.”
