C. Lester Houghton, lived most of his life on a farm northeast
of Jamestown until 1980. He was a resident of the Sunset Home, Concordia,
since 1987. He was a farmer and had been employed as an investigator for
Kansas State Board of Health for 10 years. He later was employed by the
State Fire Marshal's Office, Topeka, retiring in 1968, when he returned to
his farm. He was past chairman for the Republic County Republican Central
Committee; past master of the Jamestown Masonic Lodge; past district
deputy grand master of the 40th District of Kansas Masons.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Jamestown, the St.
John's Lodge No. 113 AF&AM, the York Rite Masonic Bodies, Concordia, and the
Isis Shrine, Salina.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey; five daughters; a son; a stepson; a stepdaughter;
one sister.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Saron Baptist Cemetery, northeast of Jamestown, with Masonic rites.
