Nancy Canady is believed to have been the daughter of William and Clarky Canady, and was born in that part of Smith County, Tennessee which later became Macon. She married John Henry Rice about 1876-1878. She was thrown from a buggy and killed about 1895. John then remarried about 1897 to Josephine "Sofia" Lee Slate. Nancy is believed to have been buried at Whitley Cemetery, per family information.
