Born in Barren County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Delcie (Farley) Smith and the husband of the late Connie Yvonne (Baker) Smith.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John, Jr. and Tonya Smith, Tompkinsville, and Johnny Joe and Wanda Smith, Indianapolis, Ind.; four daughters and two sons-in-law — Delcie and Lonnie Tedders and Martha and Shawn Ferguson, all of Tompkinsville; and Tammy and Teresa Smith, both of Indianapolis; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Smith, Bill and Wanda Smith and Billy and Mary Smith, all of Glasgow; six sisters and three brothers-in-law — Faye France, Wabash, Ind.; Mary and J.P. Likens, Mary Houchens, Shirley and Gary Crews, Debbie Decker and Diane and Larry York, all of Glasgow; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Burial was at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
