Shannon, Sister Angelina (Julianne), I.B.V.M. -

Peacefully at Loretto Infirmary, Toronto on July 17, 2009. She was in her 63rd year as a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Loretto Sisters), and the only child of the late Richard Maurice Shannon and Mary Irene O'Reilly. Sister Angelina taught in Toronto, Hamilton and Weyburn, served as Principal at Loretto Abbey from 1985 to 1992, as General Superior of the Institute for two terms, as Executive Secretary for CRC-O for four years, and Regional Treasurer for the IBVM for the next nine years. Following retirement, she volunteered for three years as a "Granny" for children at Princess Margaret Hospital whose parents could not be there, and then as a tutor for special needs children at Holy Spirit Elementary School in Scarborough for two and a half years.
