The Nevada Daily Mail, Friday, June 1, 1984--John Lewis Kennedy, 76, died Thursday morning, May 31, 1984, at his home, Route 1, Nevada, following an illness of two years. Born September 11, 1907 in Milo, he was the son of Ellsworth and Stella Pilcher Kennedy. He was married to Viola Scholle. He and his wife lived in the Round Prairie neighborhood for 32 years and moved to Nevada 1 1/2 years ago. He was a member of the Montevallo Baptist Church. He farmed and worked for the El Dorado Springs School System driving a school bus. He worked at the bus barn for 22 years. He was a member of the Montevallo Lodge 490 for more than 50 years, and was the lodge. He was on the Montevallo Masonic Board, was a member of the White Shrine of Nevada, and the Sheldon Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the past Matrons and Past Patrons Club of Sheldon, and a member of the Modern Woodmen for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by a son Louie Kennedy and two sisters, Elsie Daniels and Leta Star Survivors include; his wife, Viola, of the home; two daughters, Mary Ellen Hobbs, Sunberry, N.C., and Florence Hedges, Nevada; a brother, Dan Kennedy, El Dorado Springs; six grandchildren, Mark, Jill and Jason Hedges, and Susan, Alton and Johnathan Hobbs, Sunberry, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 1984, at Ferry Funeral Home. Interment will be in Newton Burial Park. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1m 1984, at the funeral home. He was married March 16, 1940, in Montevallo to Viola Scholle. The Rev. William E. Bell will officiate.
