Herman Jay Hagerman, 60, of Princeton, WV, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at his residence. He worked for the Department of Natural Resources in a fish hatchery.

Herman was born October 8, 1958 in Iaeger, WV a son of the late John Richard Hagerman (1908-1961) and Hettie Vance-Hagerman (1912-1973). In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by three sisters, Fannie Louvicy "Lula" Hagerman-Waddell (1929-2018), Rosabelle Hagerman (1944-1944) and Pinkie June Hagerman-Hale (1949-2012); and four brothers, Otis Edward Hagerman (1935-2016), William "Bill" Hassell Hagerman (1936-2016), Virgil Lee Hagerman (1942-2012) and Carl Ellis "Joe" Hagerman (1948-1948).

Survivors include five daughters, Virginia Hagerman-Thompson & husband Jacob Thompson of Bluefield, VA, Melissa Hagerman-Roberts & husband Buster Roberts of Iaeger, Kayla Hagerman-Kemp & husband Ben Kemp of Spanishburg, WV, Audrianna Hagerman-Sparks & husband Dakota Sparks of Bluefield, WV, and Suzanna Hagerman of Bluefield, VA, two sons, Herman Jay Hagerman Jr. & wife Jennifer Hagerman of Athens, WV, and Johnathan Hagerman & wife Kattie Hagerman of Oakvale, WV; the mother of his seven children, Rose Hicks of Princeton, WV, his ex-wife Melissa Porter of Princeton, WV; four step children, Selena Wiley & husband Matthew Wiley, Brandon Porter, Darrin Porter Jr., and Brian Porter & wife Tanna Porter all of Princeton, WV; five granddaughters, eleven grandsons; five sisters, Daisy Hagerman-Payne of Paynesville, WV, Bertha Hagerman-Rowe of Grapevine, WV, Linda Hagerman-Hess of Paynesville, WV, Ruby Hagerman-Hale of Atwell, and Julie Hagerman-Akers of SC, three brothers, Pete Hagerman and Roger Hagerman both of Rock, WV, and Bobby Hagerman of Bartley, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at 12:00 with Elder Phillip Estep and Elder Gary Estep officiating at the Old Samariah Old Regular Baptist Church in Groundhog near Jolo, WV. Burial will follow in the John R. and Hettie Hagerman Cemetery at Rockridge near Paynesville, WV.
