Jesse Anderson Jr. (Main), 70, of Bradley, passed away Thursday (Nov. 29, 2018) at Presence St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Jones Funeral Home in Kankakee. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Caldwell Chapel AME Zion Church, Kankakee. Bishop Connie Bansa is the officiant. Interment will be in Momence Cemetery, Momence.

Jesse was born Feb. 27, 1948, in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Jesse Sr. and Rebecca Crawford Anderson.

He was a graduate of St. Anne Community High School. He had been employed at CSL Behring for 48 years prior to retiring in 2015.

Jesse loved playing the guitar (he played in several bands), playing chess, cooking, barbecuing and fishing. He also loved listening to gospel, R&B and blues music.

Surviving are his son, Jeremy A. Sykes, of Minnesota; his sisters, Willie B. Armstrong, of Chicago, and Carrie (Willie) Glenn, of Pembroke Township; his brothers, James Anderson and Joe (Judy) Anderson, all of Chicago, and Danny Anderson, of St. Louis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his niece, Gloria Armstrong; and stepmother, Ethel Mae Anderson.
