Some records show her as Mary Elizabeth Reich Apel. Can anyone confirm that she is really buried at Turner Cemetery like her husband and two of her sons?

Melissa Elizabeth Reich was the second of ten known children of Johann Peter Reich (John Peter Reich) (1808-1883) and Lydia McFarland Lockenour Priest (went by Elizabeth?) (1813-1881), who married 19 Jan 1832 at Bartholomew County, Indiana.

Melissa married William (Gottlieb?) M. Apel (1823-1898) on 03 Jun 1858 at Wood County, Texas. Melissa and William were the parents of ten known children, namely:

1. John Ulrich Apel (1859-young)
2. Hiram Wesley Apel (1860-1931)
3. Mary Moriah Apel (1862-young)
4. William Houston Apel (1865-1943)
5. Godfrey Charles Apel (1867-1894)
6. Jonathan McFarland Apel (1869-1885)
7. Lydia Christinia Apel (1871-1888)
8. Martha "Mattie" Elizabeth Apel Blake Hale Burns (1875-1958)
9. Sarah Habile Caledore Apel Harbuck (1877-1950)
10. Benjamin Franklin Apel (1880-1905)

In 1860 the parents were living alone at Precinct #7, Quitman Post Office, Wood County, Texas, with William listed as a "mechanic". In 1870 the family was living at Precinct #5, Quitman Post Office, Wood County, Texas, with the parents, Hiram, William, Godfrey and Jonathan. In 1880 the family was living at Precinct 1, Wood County, Texas with the parents and last six children. The child Hiram was living next door. In 1900 the widow Elizabeth was living at Precinct 1, Wood County, Texas with children William H. (listed as married, probably a widower) and Frank and three children of William H. (Liddie, Willie May and Lona). Elizabeth said she was the mother of ten, five living which agrees with the above listing of children.

It is thought that William fought in the Civil War for the Confederacy. He may have been listed as "Billie" Apel. A Mrs. M.E. Apel was awarded Pension Number 31229 from Wood County, Texas for her husband William M. Apel. This Texas State Confederate Soldier pension should be ordered to see if it has the death date of Mary. Mary was living in Feb 1915 when she applied for the Pension. Is Feb 1915 really her death date?
