Paul Mocettini Killed Instantly by Auto

An automobile struck down and killed instantly Paul Mocettini about 7:50 o'clock Sunday evening, September 23rd, as he attempted to cross Highway 101, six miles north of San Rafael. The driver stopped his car within ten feet and was absolved of the blame, following investigation by the coroner and sheriff of Marin county.

The remains were taken to Keaton's mortuary in San Rafael pending identification which was conclusively determined by his brother-in-law, Peter Solari, of Petaluma, late Monday, and relatives in St. Helena were notified Tuesday.

The Hans Jensen Memorial Chapel returned him to St. Helena, Tuesday afternoon.

Deceased was a native of Switzerland, 45 years of age and came to California in 1922 where he had worked continuously as a helper for various dairymen, mostly in the immediate area where he was struck down. A brother Peter, also in the dairy work, passed away in St. Helena, April 27th, 1944.

There are three brothers, Louis and Candido Mocettini of St. Helena, Joseph Mocettini of Gilroy, a sister, Mrs. Genevieve Solari of Petaluma, a brother-in-law, Peter Solari, Petaluma, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lena Mocettini and Mrs. Sabina Mocettini of St. Helena, and his mother, one brother and two sisters living in Switzerland, who survive him.

Funeral services were held in the Hans Jensen Memorial Chapel, Thursday afternoon of last week at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. Father Timothy O'Connor officiating, followed by burial in the St. Helena Catholic Cemetery. Rosary was recited by Father O'Connor, Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock.

Pallbearers were Silvio Pelandini, Peter Campini, Angelo Dal Bo, John Minoggi, Mario Pometta and Narciso Catalini. Services were under the direction of Joseph P. Vasconi.
