Born March 20, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Joseph Vernon and Susan Emmazette Adams. Mrs. Lockerman was a member of Spruce Street Baptist Church in Lexington and she was a retired custodian from Lexington City Schools.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 8 siblings: Lester Adams, Alma Caraway, Russell Adams, Ola Newby, Rachel Foley, Archie Adams, Emma Overly and James Adams.
Mrs. Lockerman is survived by her daughter, Gail Bates; son, Howard Bennett; four grandchildren, Barry Bates, Jr., Mitchell Bates, Donna Nicholson, Marie Bates Brown; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 at Guilford Memorial Park with Rev. Noah Frye officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
