Bert Carl Trost passed away on November 25, 2018 in Salt Lake City.

He was born October 11, 1935 to William and Eda Smith Trost in Rexburg, Idaho. He graduated from Madison High School. He started working at a grocery store when he was twelve years old, which began a fifty-year career in the grocery business working for Safeway, Harmon's, Kellie Clark, and Acosta.

Bert married his eternal sweetheart, Lois Swensen, on July 12, 1954. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on January 21, 1964. They were married fifty-four years when Lois passed away. He loved to travel with his family, but his greatest joy was just spending time with them. He passed on his love for traveling to all his posterity.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings over many years. Bert served in the Army Reserves for six years and had a deep love for his country.

Bert will always be remembered for his easy-going temperament, mild manners, quick wit, and smile. He was loved by so many and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; three grandchildren; and three brothers, Leland, Rulon, and Arlo. He is survived by his children, Scott Trost, Cathy (Dan) Church, Melanie (Jim) Carter, Nancy (Danny) Boore, and Rodney (Stacey) Trost; and a special, loving companion, Bonnie Thomas. He is also survived by his sister, Norma Lee (Collin) Tanner; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; and other close family members.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the employees of Legacy House Assisted Living and Brighton Hospice
