Sara Perry Epley Davis, 67, devoted wife, adored mother and grandmother and friend, passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday, May 20, 2007, at her home in Houston, TX. Sara was born July 20, 1939, in New Orleans, LA, to Marion Jay Epley, Jr. and Dorris Ervin Epley. She graduated from Metairie Park Country Day School and Walnut Hill School in Natick, MA, and attended Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.

She made her debut in 1957 at the Debutante Cotillion and Christmas Ball at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, the International Debutante Ball at the Astor Hotel in New York City, the Society of the War of 1812 Ball in New Orleans, LA, and the Krewe of Osiris Ball in New Orleans.

She will be remembered as someone who always thought of others before thinking of herself. She was the perfect wife and mother whose home was always full of neighborhood children. Her support, encouragement and involvement in the lives of family and friends had a tremendous impact. She was active in local organizations wherever she lived and was a member of the The Houston Club, Lakeside Country Club, and St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She was also proud to have been one of the longest surviving liver transplant recipients, having received her transplant in 1996.

Her father, Marion Jay Epley, Jr., preceded her in death and served as president and chairman of the board of Texaco, Inc. Her mother, Dorris Ervin Epley, preceded her in death in March 2007.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard Hugh Davis, Sr.; her brother Marion Jay Epley III and his wife Mary Jane of Millbrook, NY; her son Richard Hugh Davis, Jr. and his wife Lucy Marshall Davis of Wellesley, MA; her son Marion Clark Davis and his wife Tina Burke Davis of Houston; her daughter Perry Ann Davis Reed and her husband John Lansing Reed of Houston; her granddaughters Sara Perry Davis, Elizabeth Marie Davis, Madeline Katie Davis, Abigail Grace Davis, and Haley Lyon Cambra; and her grandsons Clark Marshall Davis and Chase Alan Cambra.
