E. Kathryn Stombaugh

Mrs. E. Kathryn Stombaugh, 95, Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, for the past year, formerly of 327 N. Market St., Martinsburg, died unexpectedly Monday morning, March 12, 2001, at the center.
She was born May 8, 1905, in Piney Creek, Martinsburg RR 2, a daughter of the late Harry Smith and Keren Pearl (Baker) Burket.
She was first married to William Edward Detwiler Aug. 14, 1932, in Clarksburg, Md. He died Oct. 12, 1957.
She later married Lester Guy Stombaugh Jan. 2, 1971, in Martinsburg. He died Nov. 6. 1996.
Mrs. Stombaugh was a member of the Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg.
She retired as an elementary school teacher, having taught in the Blair County schools for 34 1/2 years and also taught in the Blue Knob area schools for eight years.
Mrs. Stombaugh was a graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg RR 1, attended Juniata College, Huntingdon, and then received a teaching certificate from Elizabethtown Teachers College.
She enjoyed traveling, having traveled by air, bus, train and auto throughout all 50 states and Canada.
Mrs. Stombaugh was a past member of the former Martinsburg Civic Club.
Surviving are two stepdaughters: Wyllandene Mascotti of Cleveland, Ohio, and Ramona Rhodes of Altoona; two stepsons: Gerald Stombaugh of Blue Knob and Jerry Stombaugh of Palmetto, Fla.: several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren: a brother, Herman Burket of Martinsburg: and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded In death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends are being received from to 9 p.m. today at the John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Wednesday at the funeral home by Pastor Christopher D. Bowman.
Interment will be made at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Good Samaritan Fund of the Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg. or the Martinsburg Community Library.

NOTE: Emma is addressed in her brother, Mahlon Baker Burket's 6/2004 Obit as Mrs. Mrs. Kathryn Detwiler Fouse indicating she may have married an Unknown Fouse Guy after the death of Lestet Stombaugh. For now will consider that an error and only record to marriages, one to Mr. Detwiler and the other to Mr. Stombaugh.
