Louis Balestriere, 86, of West Orange, N.J., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday Nov. 20, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Valley Church, 510 Valley Street, Orange, N.J., on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. The family will receive their friends at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston, N.J., on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, from 1 to 5 p.m. Born in Orange, N.J., to the late Frank and Theresa Balestriere, Louis lived in Orange, N.J., before moving to West Orange in 1988. Louis was employed by Greystone Hospital in Morristown, N.J., as a machinist before his retirement in 1988. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and served as a coach for the Orange Little League for 16 years. Beloved husband for 60 years to Eleanor Balestriere, he was the devoted father of Frank and his wife, Lynn Balestriere, and Louis and his wife, Ellen Balestriere; loving grandfather of Dana, Frank Jr., Louis and Jenna; cherished great-grandfather of Frank; dear brother of Eugene, John, Marie, Lucille, Betty and the late Rose, Amy and Leticia.
