Just as we go to press, we hear of the death of Willie, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bachhuber. A more fitting obituary will appear in next week's issues.

The Mayville News April 5, 1904

In our last week's issue we made a brief mention of the death of Willie, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bachhuber of the third ward. In infancy the little child had suffered from a severe illness which deprived him of hearing, in consequence of which he was deaf and dumb. The little boy was taken to Delevan in fall to give him such advantages as are offered such children at that institution. He did good work at this institution and left a good record behind. He was a frail child, and so could not withstand the ravages of a wasting disease. He was bright and lovable, and like the tendrils of a young vine, had gathered unto him the affections of a fond father and mother, and a large circle of relatives. He has only crossed the river to that beautiful shore, to wait their coming where there will be no more parting or sorrow, but joy forever more. The child was laid to rest on Calvary cemetery Thursday forenoon. Rev. W. Heder held the services at St. Mary's Catholic church. We extend to the relatives our sympathy, and hope that He who knoweth all things and knoweth their sorrow, will help them bear their burden.

The Mayville News April 12, 1904

Willie, the eight-year old little son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bachhuber of the Third Ward in Mayville, died last Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock after a six-week illness with a heart ailment and dropsy. The child had been at the Institute for the Deaf in Delavan since last September, when he became ill about six weeks ago. After the boy had been ill there for about a week, his parents were informed of it and traveled immediately to Delavan and brought their son home, where he succumbed to his illness after five weeks. He was born November 1, 1895 in Mayville. His funeral took place yesterday, Thursday, from St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Heder presiding. Burial was in the cemetery near the church.
